DEVO OF THE WEEK

BELIEVING THE UNBELIEVABLE

Check out what Hebrews 11:1 has to say about faith.

A friend of mine asked me, “How do you know that God exists?” It was an unexpected question from a person who seemed uninterested in Christianity.

I was caught off guard and stumbled for an answer. “I believe that God exists because God constantly blesses me.”

I wasn’t satisfied with my answer. God is far more than the blessings I receive. So after weeks of pondering, I asked a church friend, “How do you know God exists?”

He replied, “What would you lose if you chose to believe?”

His answer surprised me; but after thinking about it, I realized that God has placed us in a win-win situation. If we believe in God and God doesn’t exist, then we lose nothing; and if we believe in God and God does exist, then we gain everything. However, if we don’t believe and God exists, then we lose everything.

Remembering Hebrews 11:1, I decided that even though I cannot see God, I will believe. <
